My preciousss
I have to confess that I’m a bit possessive about my artwork. I have a habit of making something and stashing it away. Sharing my work isn’t my first inclination. However, I’ve gotten better about this in recent years.
I think it’s important to remember (for me, it might be different for others) that art isn’t just for me. What’s the point of making something if no one will see it? I think the issue is I want to be happy/proud of the work that people see. That leads to another issue of the artist being their own worst critic.
But I’m not making art just for myself. I do want people to see it and enjoy it. I always have to keep in mind that artwork I deem ‘okay’ might be ‘great’ to someone else.
